Cisco Nexus 1000V implementation

The Nexus 1000V switch allows the connection between a physical switch and an ESX host by using CDP (Cisco Discovery Protocol) data. The Nexus 1000V switch is installed on an ESX host.

The main features of the Nexus 1000V implementation in IP:

• It shows the impact of a physical switch failure on the VMs that are connected to the Nexus 1000V switch.

• It allows the creation of cable connection between a physical switch and an ESX server, that hosts the Nexus 1000V switch.
