Inclusive and selective P2MP LSPs

A P2MP LSP for an MVPN can be inclusive or selective. An inclusive P2MP LSP enables a sender PE in the sender site set of an MVPN to send multicast data to all PEs that are members of that MVPN. A selective P2MP LSP enables a sender PE in the sender site set of an MVPN to send multicast data to a subset of the PEs.

Selective P2MP LSPs are used to form multicast groups within an MVPN. A selective P2MP LSP can send traffic for one multicast group, or can send traffic for several multicast groups. Each selective P2MP LSP is attached to one or more multicast groups, and each multicast group is assigned a unique multicast group address in the range 224.0.0.0 through 239.255.255.255 inclusive.
