After an IP Availability Manager is added as a topology source, Network Protocol Manager starts a synchronization program that probes the IP Availability Manager repository for device topology and CLI device-access objects. Thereafter, the synchronization program probes for topology and CLI device-access objects whenever:

  • The IP Availability Manager completes a discovery cycle.

  • The connection to IP Availability Manager is lost and then reestablished.

Each time that Network Protocol Manager imports device topology from an IP Availability Manager, it performs the following actions:

    1. Imports the entire device topology and all the CLI device-access objects.

    2. Sends SNMP requests and CLI commands to the devices to discover or rediscover routing topology objects.

    3. Adds those objects to the routing topology in its repository.
