During the initial full discovery, Network Protocol Manager populates its repository with device topology from IP Availability Manager, and then probes the devices to discover routing topology. The initial full discovery occurs when an IP Availability Manager is added as a source to Network Protocol Manager, as explained in “Initiating discovery” on page 63.

Thereafter, whenever an IP Availability Manager source completes a discovery (an initial discovery, a full discovery, a pending discovery, or a single-device discovery), Network Protocol Manager re-imports device topology from the IP Availability Manager and performs a full discovery.
