Summary of root-cause problems and events

Network Protocol Manager for EIGRP diagnoses root-cause problems and detects (computes) events from status updates acquired in the following ways:

• By subscribing to EIGRP-relevant status updates from IP Availability Manager

• By using CLI polling to gather status information from the EIGRP-enabled devices

  Network Protocol Manager for EIGRP correlates these events to diagnose root-cause problems.

  Note:

  Events used as symptoms to diagnose a root-cause problem can also be perceived as impacts that are caused by the problem.

  The Global Manager imports:

• All problems that are diagnosed by Network Protocol Manager for EIGRP.

• Key events that are detected by Network Protocol Manager for EIGRP.

  The root-cause problem notifications (one problem per notification) and the event notifications (one event per notification) are displayed in the Global Console.
