After an NCI is found for an incoming notification, clearing behaviors are performed as discussed in the previous section. After any clearing is done, the notification may have a delay prior to checking Causes, Aggregates, and getting published. This delay is set in the NCI and is specified in seconds. For example, if you set a publish delay for 60 seconds, that means that the notification will be held for a minute before any further NCI processing is performed. If a clearing comes in during that minute, then the notification will be discarded.
