To deploy VoIP Availability Manager with VMware Smart Assurance Service Assurance Manager version 7.2, apply the latest Patch for Service Assurance Manager.

The following configuration tasks are required for the Global Manager and Adapter Platform. If the Global Manager is already running, use the sm_service command to stop it, configure it according to the following procedure, and then restart it.

For the Global Manager:

  1. Use the sm_edit utility to modify the VOIPSUPPORT.import file located in the /conf/ics directory of the Service Assurance Manager. Go to the BASEDIR/smarts/bin directory and specify the path and the name of the file (relative to the BASEDIR/smarts directory) that you want to edit. For example,

                   sm_edit BASEDIR/smarts/conf/ics/VOIPSUPPORT.import

  2. Start or restart the Global Manager.

  3. In the Global Manager Administration Console, when you are specifying VoIP Availability Manager as an underlying domain, you must select the dxa-sam-from-voip-40.conf file.

This DXA file has VoIP-specific contents like classes for IPPhoneGroups, SignalingRedundancyGroup, etc.

    For the Adapter Platform:

  4. In the Global Manager Administration Console, when you are specifying Adapter Platform as an underlying domain, you must select the dxa-oi-from-voip-40.conf file.

This DXA file has VoIP-specific contents like classes for IPPhoneGroups, SignalingRedundancyGroup, etc.
