As shown in VoIP Availability Manager discovery, the following major components that comprise VoIP Availability Manager are used in the discovery process:

  • VoIP Core

  • Avaya Enablement Pack

  • Cisco Enablement Pack

  • Nortel Enablement Pack

VoIP Availability Manager interacts with IP Availability Manager to discover the logical and physical objects in the transport domain and the VoIP domain. An IP Availability Manager instance may consist of just an IP Availability Manager process, or may consist of an IP Availability Manager and an IP Performance Manager or IP Server Performance Manager running as a single process.

The VoIP core component analyzes the status updates received from the one or more enablement packs and from IP Availability Manager to diagnose VoIP root-cause problems and impacts.

In addition, if Business Impact Manager Integration is enabled, VoIP Availability Manager associates VoIP objects with Business objects by using the BIM model. VoIP Availability Manager instantiates these objects after IP Availability Manager discovers them. VoIP Availability Manager exports these objects to the Global Manager for subsequent impact analysis by Business Impact Manager.
