This document is intended for IT managers seeking to understand the Voice over IP (VoIP) discovery process performed by VMware Smart Assurance VoIP Availability Manager, and for system administrators responsible for the administration, configuration, or use of VoIP Availability Manager.

This document provides an overview of the discovery process for VoIP Availability Manager and presents procedures for initiating VoIP Availability Manager discovery. It also describes how to customize the discovery process.

It is assumed that VoIP Availability Manager has been configured in accordance to the VMware Smart Assurance VoIP Availability Manager Configuration Guide and, if VoIP Performance Manager is integrated with VoIP Availability Manager, in accordance to the VMware Smart Assurance VoIP Management Suite Overview and Integration Guide.
