Report Advisor is not supported in NCM version 10.1.1.0. Users who have already installed Report Advisor as part of older versions, can retain the RA (Report Advisor) setup post upgrade to 10.1.1.0. All are retained post upgrade.

Retaining the Report Advisor is supported for NCM RA version 9.5.1.0 and 9.6.0.0. The users who have installed NCM older than 9.5.1.0 and still wants to retain RA, must upgrade NCM to either 9.5.1.0 or 9.6.0.0 and then upgrade to 10.1.1.0.

Following scenarios and procedure helps you to retain RA:
  • Report Advisor is installed in remote mode: If user has installed 9.5.1.0 or 9.6.0.0 Report Advisor in remote mode, before launching RA, follow these steps after upgrading the AS server:
    1. Copy <NCM Install Location>/conf/.pass.props from the AS server to <NCM Install Location>/web/conf/.pass.props in RA server.
    2. Copy <NCM Install Location>/ncmcore/webapps/ncm-webapp/WEB-INF/lib/postgresql-42.2.8.jar from the AS server to <Tomcat Install Location>/webapps/web/WEB-INF/lib/postgresql-42.2.8.jar in RA server.
    3. Run chown tomcat:tomcat <Tomcat Install Location>/webapps/web/WEB-INF/lib/postgresql-42.2.8.jar.
    4. Run chmod 774 <Tomcat Install Location>/webapps/web/WEB-INF/lib/postgresql-42.2.8.jar.
    5. Delete the older postgresql-9.0-802.jdbc3.jar from <Tomcat Install Location>/webapps/web/WEB-INF/lib/ directory of RA server.
    6. Unlock the lockbox by executing below command from <NCM Install Location>/cstbin location of RA server ./cstdriver -lockbox ../data/lockb.clb -passphrase <passphrase>.

  • Report Advisor is installed in local RA mode: If user has installed 9.5.1.0 or 9.6.0.0 report advisor in local mode all configurations is retained post upgrade to 10.1.1.0.
  • Report Advisor is installed in remote mode with fresh install of 10.1.1.0: If user is installing 10.1.1.0 as a new install instead of upgrade, follow these steps to support 9.5.1.0 or 9.6.0.0 RA installed in a remote mode:
    1. After installing the AS, login to Database Server and go to <NCM_Install_Location>/db/controldb/data/ and open pg_hba.conf file.
    2. At the end of the file, add a new line followed by:

      host all all <RA_Server_IP_Address>/32 md5

    3. Save the changes and restart the service using the command:

      service controldb restart

    4. Copy <NCM Install Location>/ncmcore/webapps/ncm-webapp/WEB-INF/lib/postgresql-42.2.8.jar from the AS server to <Tomcat Install Location>/webapps/web/WEB-INF/lib/postgresql-42.2.8.jar in RA server.
    5. Run chown tomcat:tomcat <Tomcat Install Location>/webapps/web/WEB-INF/lib/postgresql-42.2.8.jar.
    6. Run chmod 774 <Tomcat Install Location>/webapps/web/WEB-INF/lib/postgresql-42.2.8.jar.
    7. Delete the older postgresql-9.0-802.jdbc3.jar from <Tomcat Install Location>/webapps/web/WEB-INF/lib/ directory of RA server.
    8. Unlock the lockbox by executing below command from <NCM Install Location>/cstbin location of RA server ./cstdriver -lockbox ../data/lockb.clb -passphrase <passphrase>.
