Server Manager’s ability to discover and manage both the VMware Standard Virtual Switch and Distributed Virtual Switch provides the user with a complete networking analysis for the hypervisors in their environment. VMware vNetwork Distributed Switch provides a central point of control for datacenter-level virtual networking. VMware vNetwork Distributed Switch maintains network runtime state for virtual machines as they migrate live from one host to another and allows higher security by enabling inline monitoring and centralized firewall services.
For EMC M&R only, the Nexus 1000 vSwitch is represented as a single instance with the same name when the DisableNexus1KVConsolidation parameter is set to FALSE in the IP Manager tpmgr-param.conf file and the attribute DisableNexus1KVConsolidation is set to FALSE in the Server Manager.
