Migration tasks overview

This section provides you information on Migration tasks.

To migrate to Version 10.1.2, you need to meet the requirements or perform the tasks that are listed in the following table.

Note: Migration is not supported for the products ACM and MCAST.

Before you migrate
Review the release notes for important issues.	VMware Smart Assurance Release Note

Installation and migration
Perform the migration in the following order: Top-most SAM server An Aggregation SAM server if it is a hierarchical SAM deployment. IP Manager. Any order: Server Manager, MPLS Manager, and Network Protocol Manager.	For VMware Smart Assurance products: “Performing a Migration”.
After you install
Evaluate your custom code and review the tools for restoring user customization.	“Custom file migration use cases”
If you installed the products as services, start them for the first time.	“Starting services on UNIX” “Start programs”
Verify the current state of the products and the Broker.	“Verify the product status”
(Optional) After performing a migration and modifying your configuration files on one installation, you can use the deployment utility to create a deployment package of your configuration changes and deploy the package on other installations. After deploying the package on other installations, you do not have to run the migrate utility to merge your customizations.	“Deployment utility overview” on page 97
