Overview

This chapter describes about the collection of alert notifications from vRealize Operations.

vROPS is an operation management solution with the capability of spanning across physical, virtual, and cloud infrastructure. It is used to monitor and generate alerts, based on several criteria. On the other hand, Smart Assurance is used to monitor physical networks as well as the virtual infrastructure. Smart Assurance is using its codebook correlation which helps users on generating events with root causes.

Augmenting smarts notification logs with vROPS alerts can help users to have a single plane for operations. A new adapter to read alerts from vROPS is introduced which converts every alert to a Smarts notification. Relevant attributes of vROPS events such as severity, state, and lifecycle are maintained, allowing users to apply escalation policies, and so forth.
