Create an AWS account credential for EKS cluster lifecycle management

Set up a credential that allows Tanzu Platform to manage resources in your AWS account.

Prerequisites

Log in to your AWS account.

Log in to Tanzu Platform.

Make sure you have the appropriate permissions to create credentials.

Procedure

  1. In Tanzu Platform hub, click to expand Setup & Configuration in the left navigation pane, and then click Credentials.

  2. On the Credentials page, click Add Credential and choose Tanzu Platform for Kubernetes.

  3. In the credential type dialog, choose Lifecycle Management and AWS EKS.

  4. On the Add credential page, provide a name for the credential, choose the project that this credential is for, and then click Next. When you click Next, Tanzu Platform generates a CloudFormation template that you can use to create a CloudFormation stack in your AWS account. You can optionally provide a description.

  5. Choose the method that you want to use to create the AWS CloudFormation stack, either the AWS CLI or the AWS console UI.

  6. Use the on-screen instructions to create the stack, and then click Next.

  7. After the stack is created, retrieve the Role ARN. Tanzu Platform hub provides on-screen instructions that describe how to retrieve the Role ARN. The process of creating the stack might take a few minutes.

  8. Copy the Role ARN and paste it into the provided field, and then click Create.
