Retrieving vCPU Capacity from Air-Gapped Tanzu Environments

You can retrieve total vCPU capacity from certain VMware Tanzu products in internet-restricted, or air-gapped, environments either manually or by running a script.

This documentation includes instructions for the following products:

• VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid
• VMware Tanzu Application Platform

The guide for each product includes:

• A section that describes the steps to follow to manually collect the vCPU count.
• A bash script that you run to collect the vCPU count.

Prerequisites

Make sure that the following tools are installed on the workstation on which you perform all of the procedures:

• kubectl CLI
• jq utility
• Tanzu CLI

Additionally, you must always set the KUBECONFIG environment variable to the relevant cluster when running commands.

The Tanzu CLI is required if you are obtaining information from Tanzu Kubernetes Grid. You can obtain the Tanzu CLI in one of the following ways:

• With your VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid product download.
• Directly from the Tanzu CLI open source project.
