The VMware Edge Cloud Orchestrator SaaS service allows registered hosts to be associated to a Git repository to receive the desired state configuration for all items at an edge location.

The configuration can be created for the following items:

  • Host configuration

  • Virtual machine workloads

  • Kubernetes workloads

  • Kubernetes worker node configuration

To activate your hosts and associate them with a Git repository, perform the following steps:

Prerequisites

  • A Git repository

  • A Git access token

  • A host registered with the VMware Edge Cloud Orchestrator service.

Procedure

  1. Open the VMware Edge Cloud Orchestrator Service.
  2. Click Hosts .
  3. Select the host that you want to activate.
  4. Click Activate.
  5. Select an existing Git Repository.
  6. Optionally, edit the Branch name for this repository to be used for the host.
  7. Optionally, edit the Path for this repority to synchronize with a sub folder in the repository.
  8. Add your Git Username and Access Token, which you stored when you created your Git repository and access token.
  9. Click Confirm.

Results

Your information is sent to the VMware Edge Cloud Orchestrator host and a Git sync is created. It might take a while depending on the network connectivity and speed of the connection to the VMware Edge Cloud Orchestrator host.

Your host is listed as Active in the VMware Edge Cloud Orchestrator service.
