To add a scaling policy, perform the following steps:

Procedure

  1. Log in to the VMware Telco Cloud Automation web interface.
  2. Design a Virtual Network Function Descriptor. For more information, see Design a Virtual Network Function Descriptor.
  3. In the Network Function Designer page, click the Scaling Policies tab.
  4. To add scaling aspects, click Add under Scaling Aspects.The Add Aspect wizard is displayed.
    1. Enter the Name and Description of the aspect.
    2. Max Scale Level - Use the slide bar to select the total number of scale steps to apply for the aspect.
    3. Under Available Scaling Steps, select the scaling steps to assign to your aspect. To create a scaling step, click Create Scaling Step.
    4. The Scaling Steps table displays details of the scaling steps that are assigned to the aspect.
    5. Click Add Aspect.
  5. To add an instantiation level, click Add. The Add Instantiation Level wizard is displayed.
    1. Enter the Name and Description of the instantiation level.
    2. To make this instantiation level as the default level, select Default Level.
    3. Assign a scaling aspect to the instantiation level. To add a scaling aspect, click Add Aspect.
    4. Click Add Level.
  6. To save this scaling policy as a draft and edit it at a later time, click Save As Draft.
  7. To Upload the Scaling Policy to your VNF, click Upload.

What to do next

To edit a scaling policy, perform the following steps:
  1. Go to Catalog > Network Function and click the network function on which you want to update the scaling policy.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. In the Network Function Designer page, add scaling aspects or add instantiation levels.
  4. To save the updated Network Function, click Save.
  5. To create a duplicate of the Network Function that contains the scaling updates, click Save as New.
