For every release, VMware Telco Cloud Automation provides an upgrade BOM file in the VMware Customer Connect site.

Prerequisites

  • Ensure that VMware Telco Cloud Automation is in healthy condition by making sure all services are running in appliance summary of platform Manager.
  • Download VMware-Telco-Cloud-Automation-upgrade-files.tar.gz from customerconnect.vmware.com. This portal contains the upgrade BOM file required for upgrading Cloud-Native VMware Telco Cloud Automation.
  • Back up your VMware Telco Cloud Automation appliance.
  • Ensure that you have connectivity to JFrog repository.
Note:
  • You cannot schedule VMware Telco Cloud Automation Control Plane upgrade from a VMware Telco Cloud Automation Manager appliance that is in HA mode.
  • The upgrade process can take up to 45 mins.
  • During the upgrade process, you cannot use VMware Telco Cloud Automation for any operations.
  • Upgrade the VMware Telco Cloud Automation Manager before upgrading the VMware Telco Cloud Automation Control Plane.
Note: Upgrading cloud native TCA from an older version to TCA version 2.2 is not supported.

Procedure

  1. Extract the upgrade BOMs from the downloaded VMware-Telco-Cloud-Automation-upgrade-files.tar.gz file.
    This file contains two upgrade BOMs:
    • VMware-Telco-Cloud-Automation-Mgr-upgrade-bom for VMware Telco Cloud Automation Manager
    • VMware-Telco-Cloud-Automation-CP-upgrade-bom for VMware Telco Cloud Automation Control Plane.
  2. Log in to the VMware Telco Cloud Automation web interface.
  3. Go to Administration > System Updates.
  4. From the Apply Service Update column, click Select File.
  5. Browse and select the upgrade BOM file.
  6. To initiate the upgrade, click Upgrade.

Results

The upgrade begins. To monitor the upgrade progress, view the Status column.
