When you want to perform certain reconfigurations on the Worker nodes that involves powering off and rebooting the virtual machine, you can place the Worker nodes in Maintenance Mode.

  1. Log in to the VMware Telco Cloud Automation web interface.
  2. Go to Infrastructure > CaaS Infrastructure > Cluster Instances.
  3. Click the Kubernetes cluster that requires the Worker nodes to be placed in Maintenance Mode.
  4. Click the Worker Nodes tab.
  5. Click the Options () symbol against the node and select Enter Maintenance Mode.

The node is placed in Maintenance Mode and the Machine Health Check controller does not remediate if there is a system down time.

When you place a Worker node in Maintenance Mode and power it off, it does not power on until you remove it from Maintenance Mode.

What to do next

To remove the Worker node from Maintenance Mode, click the Options () symbol against the node and select Exit Maintenance Mode.
