To Deploy the VMware Telco Cloud Automation OVA file, perform a standard OVF template deployment through the vSphere Client.

Prerequisites

Ensure that you have downloaded the VMware Telco Cloud Automation OVA file.

Procedure

  1. Right-click any inventory object that is a valid parent object of a virtual machine, such as a data center, folder, cluster, resource pool, or host, and select Deploy OVF Template.
  2. On the Select an OVF template page, browse and select the <filename>.ova file, and click Next.
  3. On the Select a name and folder page, enter an unique virtual machine name and the inventory location. Click Next.
  4. On the Select a compute resource page, select a compute resource location, and click Next.
  5. On the Review details page, verify the OVA template details, and click Next.
  6. On the License agreements page, read and accept the VMware End User License Agreement, and click Next.
  7. On the Configuration page, for TCA Control Plane select deployment configuration either Small or Medium and for TCA Manager select Large or X-Large, and then click Next.
  8. On the Select storage page, select the virtual disk format, storage policy, storage name, and then click Next.
  9. On the Select networks page, select the destination network, and click Next.
  10. On the Customize Template page. set the appropriate deployment properties:
    • Passwords - Configure the CLI Admin password, Root user password, and TCA user password.

      The password should contain minimum:

      • 8 characters

      • 1 upper case

      • 1 lower case

      • 1 digit

      • 1 special character.

    • Network Properties - Enter the network properties for the default gateway. Optionally, provide the IPv4 gateway, IPv6 gateway, the prefix length, and gateway IP address for any network that cannot be accessed through the default gateway.

      • Hostname - Enter a host name for the virtual machine that you are installing.
      • Select IP Protocol - Select the IP protocol to be used for the appliance. If you have selected either IPv4 or IPv6, only the values entered in the primary fields are considered. If you have selected IPv6 and IPv4, the values entered in the primary fields are used for IPv4 and the values entered in the secondary fields are used for IPv6.
      • Enable DHCP - Select the check box to enable DHCP for the appliance. If you enable DHCP, the IP Address, Prefix Length, and Gateway fields are not applicable. However, if you select IPv4 or IPv6 in the IP Protocol field, these fields are applicable.
      • Primary Network IP Address - Enter the primary IP address for this interface. If you enable the DHCP configuration, you can leave this field blank.
      • Primary Network IP Prefix Length - Enter the primary IP prefix length for this interface. If you enable the DHCP configuration, you can leave this field blank.
      • Primary Default IP Gateway - Enter the primary default gateway for this appliance. If you enable the DHCP configuration, you can leave this field blank.
      • Secondary Network IP Address (Optional) - Enter the secondary IP address for this interface. If you enable the DHCP configuration, you can leave this field blank.
      • Secondary Network IP Prefix Length - Enter the secondary IP prefix length for this interface. If you enable the DHCP configuration, you can leave this field blank.
      • Secondary Default IP Gateway - Enter the secondary default IP gateway for this appliance. If you enable the DHCP configuration, you can leave this field blank.

    • FQDN or external IP - Provide the FQDN or external IP to connect to the service on the TCA appliance. This is an optional parameter and if you do not provide this parameter, VM IP is used as external address.

    • Static Routes - Add a static route for a destination subnet or host.

    • DNS
      • DNS Server List - Enter the list of DNS servers for this virtual machine.
      • Domain Search List - Domains that you enter are searched in the order you list them, and the search stops when a valid name is found.
    • Services Configuration

      • Configure Appliance Role - Select an appliance role from the drop-down menu. The options are:

        • Control Plane - VMware Telco Cloud Automation Control Plane (TCA-CP)
        • Manager - VMware Telco Cloud Automation Manager

        The default value is Manager.

      • NTP Server List - Enter the list of NTP servers and ensure that the NTP server can be reached from the virtual machine. If the NTP time is out of sync, services fail to start.

      • Enable SSH - Select the check box to enable SSH.
        Note: It is not recommended to enable SSH service for security reasons.
      • Enable Workflow Hub - Select the check box to enable the Workflow Hub.

        Note:

        This service is only applicable on TCA Manager and the recommended configuration is X-Large.

  11. Click Next.
  12. Review the deployment settings and click Finish.

What to do next

  • Allow up to 5 minutes for initialization, then browse to the appliance management interface for the initial activation using https://tca-ip-or-fqdn:9443 and login using tca user.
