This section describes the steps to setup a TCA Airgap Appliance by first wiring it to the public to synchronize artifacts from the Internet, then switching its network adapter to the private network to serve the TCA system. To switch the network, you will also need to reconfgure the airgap server, when moving to a different network this will typically ential an IP address change and so on.

Prerequisites

  • A vSphere Infrastructure with both internet accessible public virtual network and isolated private virtual network.

  • The firewall of the public virtual network allows to access the official websites serving for artifacts data downloading.

Procedure

  1. Deploy a TCA Airgap Appliance to the virtual network with Internet access.

To download the OVA and deploy a TCA Airgap Appliance, see Deploying a VM-Based TCA Airgap Appliance.

  2. Synchronize artifacts.

To synchronize the required artifacts data of certain TCA release, perform the steps mentioned in Synchronizing artifacts data from Broadcom official websites.

  3. Switch network adapter to a private virtual network.

After artifacts data is synchronized, internet connectivity is not needed. You can switch the TCA Airgap appliance network adapter to the private virtual network where VMware Telco Cloud Automation System can access.

Login to vCenter, navigate to the TCA Airgap Appliance VM, and click the Edit settings wizard from Actions. Browse and select the virtual network in the Virtual Hardware and Network adapter 1 setting.
