Upgrading VMware Cloud Director

This section describes how to upgrade VMware Cloud Director from version 9.7.0.5 to 10.3.2a.

Prerequisites

1. Verify that you have superuser credentials for the VMware Cloud Director Cells in your VMware Cloud Director server group.

2. Verify that the VMware Cloud Director database, vSphere components, and the NSX components are compatible with the new version of VMware Cloud Director.

3. Verify that all ESXi hosts are enabled. Starting with VMware Cloud Director 9.5, deactivated ESXi hosts are unsupported.

4. Take a backup and snapshot of the VMware Cloud Director cells.

5. Back up your existing database before you upgrade it. Use the backup procedure that your database software vendor recommends.

Procedure

• ♦Upgrade the VMware Cloud Director appliance from version 9.7.0.5 to 10.3.2a.

  When you upgrade VMware Cloud Director to 10.3.2a, vCenter Server and NSX server get disconnected. To reconnect vCenter Server and NSX server, see KB 78885.
