Data plane intensive workloads require accelerated and predictable network performance. To achieve the accelerated data plane performance, configure NUMA and logical cores on the VDS Enhanced switch.

Prerequisites

  1. ENS drivers are installed.

  2. Uplink policy is ready.

  3. Transport zone with enhanced data path mode is available.

  4. Host transport node is configured.

    Note:

For information about configuring these prerequisites, see Configure the VDS Enhanced Switch.

Procedure

  1. From a browser, log in with admin privileges to an NSX Manager at https://<nsx-manager-ip-address>.
  2. Select NSX Manager > System > Fabric > Nodes > Transport Node Profile.
  3. Select and edit the particular Transport Node Profile > Host Switch.
  4. Edit the ENS-configured VDS. Select CPU Config > Add, provide the values for NUMA Node Index and LCore per NUMA Node, and click SAVE.
  5. Click Finish to save changes.

What to do next

Verify the logical core settings.

# esxcli network ens lcore list
Lcore ID Switch Affinity
-------- ------------ --------
       0 DvsPortset-4 0
       1 DvsPortset-2 0
