Upgrade vCenter Server

This section describes how to upgrade vCenter Servers from 7.0 U3c to 8.0 U1b in Active, Passive, and Witness nodes, if your vCenter Server Appliance is configured in a vCenter High Availability (HA) cluster.

Prerequisites

1. Take a VM snapshot of the vCenter Server appliance. For instructions, see Creating a Snapshot of a VM.

   Note:

   Additionally, you can create a file-based backup of the vCenter Server appliance using the vCenter Server interface. For instructions, see File-Based Backup and Restore of vCenter Server.

2. Follow the Prerequisites for Upgrading vCenter Server High Availability Environments.

Procedure

• ♦Upgrade the vCenter Server Appliance 7.0U3c to 8.0 U1b with an Embedded Platform Services Controller by Using the GUI.
