Upgrade vCenter Server

This section describes how to upgrade vCenter Servers from 7.0 U3C to 8.0U1 in Active, Passive, and Witness nodes, if your vCenter Server Appliance is configured in a vCenter High Availability (HA) cluster.

Prerequisites

Follow the prerequisites to upgrade the vCenter Server High Availability environments.

Note:

The upgrade sequence of vCenter Server VMs must be Witness => Passive => Active.

Procedure

1. Upgrade the vCenter Server Appliance 7.0 U3C HA Cluster with an Embedded Platform Services Controller to 8.0U1 by Using the vCenter Server GUI.
   Note:

   When you upgrade, ensure that the Stage 1 and Stage 2 processes are completed properly.

2. Upgrade the Distributed Switches from version 7.0 to 8.0.
