Upgrade ESXi

This section describes how to upgrade ESXi from 7.0 U3C to 8.0U1. You must also install new NSX VIBs on the host such that they are compatible with the new ESXi version.

Procedure

• ♦Upgrade the ESXi using one of the following options:

  • ESXi command line. For instructions, see Update ESXi by Using Zip Files.

  • vSphere Lifecycle Manager

    1. Import ESXi Updates to the vSphere Lifecycle Manager Depot.

    2. Create a baseline for the ESXi upgrade.

    3. Remediate ESXi Hosts Against a Single Baseline or Multiple Baselines.

  If the upgrade process enters the maintenance mode and gets stuck at 100% on the last node of the cluster, follow the instructions in KB 81734.

Results

All the ESXi servers are rebooted after the upgrade.
