The VMware Telco Cloud Operations MnR Gateway component acts as an entry point for ingesting data from external systems such as MnR into VMware Telco Cloud Operations.

The MnR Gateway ingests data with the input source as Kafka, and external systems sends data to Kafka that is deployed as part of the VMware Telco Cloud Operations service cluster. And, accessible from systems and services which are external to VMware Telco Cloud Operations.

Following are the main features of the VMware Telco Cloud Operations MnR Gateway service:
  • The VMware Telco Cloud Operations MnR Gateway deploys with other components in the same cluster.
  • A high-performance Kafka consumer reads from an Edge or Kafka topic.
  • VMware Telco Cloud Operations Gateway message transformer service transforms an incoming message from the external system to the VMware Telco Cloud Operations format.
  • Ingest the transformed message to the Kafka topic consumes by the Metric ingestion service, and ingest it to Elasticsearch.
  • Data in the Elasticsearch are consumed by reporting service and VMware Telco Cloud Operations UI.

VMware Telco Cloud Operations Catalog Service

The Catalog is separate service that is deployed in the VMware Telco Cloud Operations cluster. The catalog preloads the VMware Telco Cloud Operations with external metric models and Mappings for the vCenter and Traffic flow collector. The user can create models metadata and mappings or can update external models using metadata and mappings of VMware Telco Cloud Operations UI.
Note: The catalog service relies on the Elasticsearch for persistence of the earlier information.

VMware Telco Cloud Operations UI

VMware Telco Cloud Operations UI is enhanced with additional features related to the VMware Telco Cloud Operations gateway, are following:
  • Deployment of the VMware Telco Cloud Operations Gateway (tco-gateway) through VMware Telco Cloud Operations UI. Go to VMware Telco Cloud Operation User Guide for more information on tco-gateway collector.
  • Onboard the new MnR Solution Packs, and able to add a metadata and define mapping.
  • View and Update mappings. Enable or Disable the mappings.
  • Ability to create custom Metric models in VMware Telco Cloud Operations.
  • To create custom models or update external models.
