VMware Cloud on AWS is a managed cloud offering that provides dedicated VMware vSphere-based Software-Defined Data Centers (SDDC) that are hosted within AWS facilities.
The SDDC deployed on VMware Cloud on AWS is the foundation for the Telco Cloud Platform - Public Cloud architecture. Just like an on-premise vSphere based SDDC, VMC on AWS provides the compute, storage, and networking virtualization via vSphere, vSAN, and NSX.
The SDDC on VMware Cloud on AWS is created within an AWS account and a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) dedicated to your organization and managed by VMware. The SDDC must also be connected to an AWS account belonging to the customer, called the customer AWS account. This connection allows the SDDC to access AWS services belonging to the customer account.
