If a virtual machine (VM) with the SR-IOV network adapter is running on the ESXi server, follow these steps to upgrade the ESXi server.

Procedure

  1. Shut down the VM before the ESXi server reboot.
  2. Use one of the following methods to upgrade the ESXi server. For more information, see the VMware ESXi Upgrade Guide.

    • GUI installer

    • Scripts

    • ESXCLI

    • vSphere Auto Deploy

    • vSphere Lifecycle Manager

  3. Upgrade all the drivers and firmware on the ESXi server based on the Telco Cloud Platform RAN 3.0 BOM. For more information, see KB87936.

Results

The ESXi host is successfully upgraded and rebooted.
