To configure Aria Operations for Logs, follow these steps.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the primary node as the default admin user.
  2. Select Administration.
  3. Select License on the left pane of the Administration page and enter the license number on the right pane.
  4. Click Time and synchronize the time on the Aria Operations for Logs appliance with the NTP server.
  5. Enable the Aria Operations for Logs Integrated Load Balancer. For instructions, see Working with an Integrated Load Balancer.
  6. Click vSphere and enter the management vCenter Server FQDN and login credentials. Verify that the connection is successful.
  7. Select the Collect vCenter Server events, tasks, and alarms, and then Configure ESXi hosts to send logs to Aria Operations for Logs options.
  8. Save the configuration and repeat the process for the compute vCenter Server. For more information, see Connect Aria Operations for Logs to a vSphere Environment.
  9. If Aria Operations is already installed, complete this step. If it is not installed, install Aria Operations and then complete these steps.
    1. In the left pane, click Aria Operations and enter the management vCenter Server FQDN and login credentials. Verify that the connection is successful.
    2. Select the Enable alerts integration and Enable launch in context options.
    3. Save the configuration and repeat the process for the compute vCenter Server. For more information, see Using Aria Operations with Aria Operations for Logs.
  10. Install the following required content packs to monitor the events, alerts, and queries related to a specific product or set of logs. You can install the packs from Marketplace without leaving the Aria Operations for Logs UI. For more information, see Install a Content Pack from the Content Pack Marketplace.
    • VMware Aria Operations for Logs Content Pack for Aria Automation Orchestrator

    • VMware Aria Operations for Logs Content Pack for Aria Operations for Networks

    The following content packs are already included with Aria Operations for Logs.

    • VMware Aria Operations for Logs Content Pack for vCenter Server.

    • VMware Aria Operations for Logs Content Pack for Aria Operations.

    • VMware Aria Operations for Logs Content Pack for vSAN

  11. Install and configure Aria Operations for Logs Linux and Windows agents. For more information, see Overview of Aria Operations for Logs Agents.

    Aria Operations for Logs agents collect the events and log files from Linux and Windows machines to forward to the Aria Operations for Logs Management server.
