This section describes the high-level steps to install and configure ESXi hosts for the compute workload domain.
For detailed instructions, see the VMware vSphere 8.0 documentation.
Procedure
- Install ESXi hosts.
Note:
Do not configure RAID on the physical hosts.
Logs are stored on non-persistent storage. Refer to the corresponding product documentation to configure a syslog server or a scratch partition. Later, change the syslog to point to Aria Operations for Logs.
To download ESXi, see the Telco Cloud Platform RAN Essentials 5.0 downloads page.
- Specify the network parameters for the host. Use static IP addresses and ensure that the VLAN ID is set for the management network.
- Specify a root password for the ESXi host.
- Configure the ESXi hosts:
- Verify that the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the ESXi host is resolvable.
- Configure the appropriate VLAN ID for the VMkernel port group.
- Verify that all ESXi hosts can ping each other.
