You must install the ESXi Hypervisor on each physical host for the management domain.

Prerequisites

Verify that the FQDNs of the hosts are resolvable.

Procedure

  1. Install the following ESXi hosts on a local disk of 128 GB or larger for optimal support of ESXi Hypervisor.
    • ESXi_MGMT_01

    • ESXi_MGMT_02

    • ESXi_MGMT_03

    • ESXi_MGMT_04

For the detailed ESXi installation instructions, see Installing and Setting Up ESXi.

To download ESXi, see the Telco Cloud Platform Essentials or Advanced downloads page.

    Note:
    • Logs are stored on non-persistent storage. Refer to the corresponding component documentation to configure a syslog server or a scratch partition. Later, change syslog to point to Aria Operations for Logs.

    • The use of Legacy SD and USB devices for ESX-OSData partitions is deprecated.

  2. Configure the network parameters, such as IP address, Netmask, Gateway, DNS, and FQDN, for the host.
    Note:
    • Use static IP or DHCP addresses.

    • Ensure that the VLAN ID is set for the management network.

  3. Specify a root password for the ESXi host.
  4. Configure the ESXi hosts:
    1. Verify that the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the ESXi host is resolvable.
    2. Configure the appropriate VLAN ID for the VMkernel port group.
    3. Verify that all ESXi hosts can ping each other.
  5. Create a VM Management port group only on ESXi_MGMT_01 with VLAN (for example, 10) on the standard switch. The port group is required when you deploy the Management vCenter.
  6. (Optional) Configure the VMkernel adapter for NFS connectivity on the ESXi_MGMT_01 host.
  7. Configure the local datastore for ESXi_MGMT_01.
  8. Configure and synchronize NTP with ESXi hosts.
