The MPLS Topology Server performs the following steps to discover BGP topology:

  1. Probes the imported BGP-relevant router and switch devices for BGP topology information and creates BGP objects and their relationships in its repository.

  2. Combines the information that is collected from the various probes to create additional BGP objects and relationships.

  3. Creates relationships that associate the discovered BGP objects with the discovered L3VPN objects.

  4. Exports the BGP topology to the Global Manager.

  5. Exports a subset of the BGP topology to the MPLS Monitoring Server and the MPLS Analysis Server.
