discovery is the process of using object class models to create a representation of the managed topology within the repository, or database, of a Domain Manager. For Network Protocol Manager, data is collected from routing-enabled devices in the managed network to create instances of logical routing topology objects, their relationships, and their logical connections.
When a routing-enabled device is added to the managed network, Network Protocol Manager performs discovery on the device to determine the routing topology objects that are associated with the device. When a routing-enabled device is removed from the managed network and deleted from the topology, Network Protocol Manager removes the device and all the device’s associated routing topology objects from the modeled topology.
