Preparing IP Availability Manager for discovery starts with seed systems, which serve as a starting point for autodiscovery. Autodiscovery automatically discovers the managed network from the seed systems. Procedures for preparing and initiating autodiscovery are given in the IP Manager documentation.
In addition, an administrator performs the following configuration tasks described in the Network Protocol Manager Configuration Guide to prepare IP Availability Manager for discovery in a Network Protocol Manager deployment:
-
Enables protocol light discovery.
-
Enables overlapping IP address discovery (optional).
Applicable if Network Protocol Manager for BGP or Network Protocol Manager for OSPF is to import tagged IP and IPNetwork objects from IP Availability Manager.
-
Enables interoperability with the VPN-Tagging Server (optional).
Applicable only if IP Availability Manager is enabled to perform overlapping IP address discovery.
-
Specifies one or more CLI device-access objects.
Applicable if Network Protocol Manager for EIGRP or Network Protocol Manager for IS-IS is to perform CLI discovery and CLI polling. Also applicable for Network Protocol Manager for BGP discovery of Route Reflectors or Network Protocol Manager for OSPF discovery of passive OSPF interfaces.
