During discovery, IP Availability Manager queries every Cisco or Juniper device (router or switch) in the managed network for IS-IS support.
IP Availability Manager queries a Cisco device’s SNMP agent for an additional MIB object named cpmProcessName, in the Cisco Process MIB, to determine whether the device supports the IS-IS routing protocol. If a process with isis in its name exists for the cpmProcessName object, IP Availability Manager adds the device to the IS-IS topology collection set, along with other discovered network objects that are associated with the device.
IP Availability Manager queries a Juniper device’s SNMP agent for an additional MIB object named isisISAdjIPAddress to determine whether the device supports the IS-IS routing protocol. If isisISAdjIPAddress exists for the device, IP Availability Manager adds the device to the IS-IS topology collection set, along with other discovered network objects that are associated with the device.
