Network Protocol Manager supports the discovery, monitoring, and analysis of BGP, EIGRP, IS-IS, and OSPF networks in any of the following vendor-specific environments:

  • Cisco

  • Juniper

The Network Protocol Manager Certified Device List identifies the Cisco and Juniper devices that have been fully tested for this release of Network Protocol Manager.

The device types that are supported by Network Protocol Manager are:

  • Physical routers that are running BGP, EIGRP, IS-IS, or OSPF services.

  • Virtual routers that are running BGP, EIGRP, IS-IS, or OSPF services.

  • Route switch modules (RSMs) that are running BGP, EIGRP, IS-IS, or OSPF services.

  • Route switch feature cards (RSFCs) that are running BGP, EIGRP, IS-IS, or OSPF services.

  • Multilayer switch feature cards (MSFCs) that are running BGP, EIGRP, IS-IS, or OSPF services.

  • Switches that contain one or more interface cards that are running BGP, EIGRP, IS-IS, or OSPF services.

Virtual routers are implemented within physical routers or switches. RSMs, RSFCs, and MSFCs, which are device type cards in Layer 3 (network) switches, perform routing between virtual LANs (VLANs).
