This section provides information about infrastructure upgrades while the VMware Telco Cloud Service Assurance is in an idle state.

Not all cloud and Kubernetes versions are supported. To determine if the VMware Telco Cloud Service Assurance supports the Kubernetes version, see the Software Versions and Interoperability topic in the VMware Telco Cloud Service Assurance Deployment Guide.

For TKG deployments, you must upgrade the Management and Workload clusters. For more information, see Working with Kubernetes Clusters in the VMware Telco Cloud Automation User Guide.

For AWS deployments, navigate to the EKS portal Cluster view, and select the Kubernetes cluster hosting the VMware Telco Cloud Service Assurance deployment. Select the option to Update now. Select a version from the available versions using the drop-down menu.

For Azure deployments, navigate to the Azure portal and select the Kubernetes service hosting the VMware Telco Cloud Service Assurance deployment. Under Settings, select the Node pools configuration. Select the node pool name from the table. The Upgrade Kubernetes option is available from the top menu. Select a version from the available versions using the drop-down menu.

Note: For in-place upgrades (where the system is upgraded while the product is installed), you might require additional resources to allow the current pods to be re-scheduled on different nodes while the existing nodes are being upgraded. You can control the maximum number or percentage of unavailable nodes to be tolerated during the node pool version update. For more information, see VMware Cloud Provider documentation.
