You can take backup on a lower footprint and restore on a higher footprint.
Following are the limitations of backup and restore across footprints:
- The cluster is upgraded: In this case, after the upgrade, you can see the backup of the previous cluster in the upgraded cluster. While restoring, ensure that you specify the backup name to use.
- A new cluster is created with a higher footprint: For more information, see Backup and Restore Across Clusters.
- A new cluster is created after Flexible Scaling: In this case, if you have performed Flexible Scaling after a backup and you want to restore in a new cluster, the new cluster must be of the same or higher configuration.
