Application Connectivity Monitor (ACM) automatically discovers TCP-based applications on the network. Application Connectivity Monitor performs the TCP checks by using the open TCP sockets.

For Application Connectivity Monitor to function correctly, the firewall rules and packet filtering apps might need to be modified. It monitors the application connectivity, and uses task checks to detect the root cause of application problems. This intelligence simplifies incident triage and accelarates the resolution time.

Application Connectivity Monitor operates in conjunction with Availability Manager, IP Performance Manager, and Service Assurance Manager. Availability Manager and IP Performance Manager provide the network topology for Application Connectivity Monitor through Adapter Platform. Service Assurance Manager collects the results of the deployment’s root-cause analysis, and presents the results to application operations personnel through the Global Console.

Note:

In some deployment environments, Application Connectivity Monitor fails to monitor the tcp ports because the ports are blocked by firewall or virus scanners. In such environments, you must change the firewall or virus scanner settings to allow Application Connectivity Monitor to access the ports and moniotr the applications.
