5G infrastructure is built on top of a cloud-based architecture. The aim of VMware Telco Cloud Service Assurance is to add value to clients by automatically and proactively identifying root causes related to fault, performance, misconfiguration, and security events that impact Telco services running as Virtual Network Function (VNF) or Container Network Function (CNF). As a result, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and service impacts can trigger remediation that optimizes the infrastructure to meet Service Level Objectives (SLO).
The following lists the functionalities of
VMware Telco Cloud Service Assurance:
- VMware Telco Cloud Service Assurance can automatically discover the Container as a Service (CaaS) infrastructure and build a dynamic topology ranging from the physical network to container, CNF, and service layers. The ability to correlate root cause with service impacts requires a near real-time topology.
- RCA for fault and performance covers the virtual infrastructure to provide a holistic picture.
- Rather than using VMware Telco Cloud Service Assurance, containers are monitored using Telco Cloud Automation (TCA), VMware Aria Operations, and Kubernetes. VMware Telco Cloud Service Assurance value here is to bring everything under a single pane of glass and provide alarm reduction by providing holistic assurance.
- The unique value generated by VMware Telco Cloud Service Assurance correlates the root cause with the impact on the service, and this value is supplied to the Network Functions Management and Orchestration (NFV MANO) layer to provide closed-loop control.
In the diagram, VMware Telco Cloud Service Assurance is used as an Assurance platform for the CNF and the VNF Assurance use cases for infrastructure delivering 5G services.
