You must first deploy the NSX Manager virtual appliance. After the NSX Manager is successfully deployed you must connect it to the Compute vCenter Server instance.

Procedure

  1. Log in to vCenter Server by using the vSphere Web Client.
    1. Open a Web browser and go to https://sfo01m01vc01.sfo01.rainpole.local/vsphere-client.
    2. Log in using the following credentials.

  2. Open the Deploy OVF Template wizard.
    1. In the Navigator, expand the entire sfo01m01vc01.sfo01.rainpole.local tree.
    2. Right-click the sfo01-m01-mgmt01 cluster, and click Deploy OVF Template.
  3. Use the Deploy OVF Template wizard to deploy the NSX Manager virtual appliance.
    1. On the Select template page, click the Browse button, select the VMware NSX Manager .ova file, and click Next
    2. On the Select name and location page, enter the following settings, and click Next.

    3. On the Select a resource page, select the following values, and click Next.

    4. On the Review details page, review the extra configuration option message, and click Next.
    5. On the Accept license agreements page, click Accept, and click Next.

    7. On the Select networks page, Under Destination Network,select sfo01-m01-vds01-management, and click Next.

    9. On the Ready to complete page, click Finish.
    10. In the Navigator, expand the sfo01m01vc01.sfo01.rainpole.local tree,select the sfo01w01nsx01 virtual machine, and click the Power on button.
  4. Connect the NSX Manager to the Compute vCenter Server.
    1. Open a Web browser and go to https://sfo01w01nsx01.sfo01.rainpole.local
    2. Log in using the following credentials.

    3. Click Manage vCenter Registration.
    4. Under Lookup Service URL, click the Edit button.
    5. In the Lookup Service URL dialog, enter the following settings, and click OK.

    6. In the Trust Certificate? dialog box, click Yes.
    7. Under vCenter Server, click the Edit button.
    8. In the vCenter Server dialog box, enter the following settings, and click OK.

    9. In the Trust Certificate? dialog box, click Yes.
    10. Wait until the Status indicators for the Lookup Service URL and vCenter Server change to Connected.
  5. Log out from the vCenter Server session in the vSphere Web Client.
  6. Log in to the Management vCenter Server by using the vSphere Web Client.
    1. Open a Web browser and go to https://sfo01m01vc01.sfo01.rainpole.local/vsphere-client.
    2. Log in using the following credentials.

  7. Assign the administrator@vsphere.local account access to NSX.
    1. In the Navigator, click Network & Security.
    2. Select NSX Managers.
    3. Select 172.16.11.66 from the tree control.
    4. Click the Manage tab, then click Users.
    5. Click the Add icon.
    6. On the Identify User page enter administrator@vsphere.local in the User text box and click Next.
    7. On the Select Roles page, select the Enterprise Administrator radio button and click Finish.
  8. Log out from the vCenter Server session in the vSphere Web Client.
