Time synchronization issues can result in serious problems with your environment. Configure NTP for each of your hosts in the management and the shared edge and compute clusters.


  1. Log in to the sfo01m01esx01.sfo01.rainpole.local host using the VMware Host Client.
    1. Open a Web browser and go to sfo01m01esx01.sfo01.rainpole.local.

  2. Configure SSH options.
    1. In the Navigator, click Manage, click the Services tab, select the TSM-SSH service, and click the Actions menu. Choose Policy and click Start and stop with host.
    2. Click Start to start the service.
  3. Configure the NTP Daemon (ntpd) options.
    1. In the Navigator, click Manage, click the System tab, click Time & date, and click Edit Settings.
    2. In the Edit Time configuration dialog box, select the Use Network Time Protocol (enable NTP client) radio button, change the NTP service startup policy to Start and stop with host, and enter ntp.sfo01.rainpole.local,ntp.lax01.rainpole.local as NTP servers.
    3. Click Save to save these changes.
    4. Start the service by clicking Actions, hover over NTP service, and choose Start.
