Two external Platform Services Controller instances must be deployed in Region B. The first instance is associated with the management cluster and the second with the shared edge and compute cluster. Both instances belong to the same SSO domain for Identity Management. Work through this procedure twice, using the vCenter Server Appliance ISO file and the customized data for each instance.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Windows host that has access to your data center as an administrator.
  2. Start the vCenter Server Appliance Installer wizard.
    1. Browse the vCenter Server Appliance ISO file.
    2. Open the <dvd-drive>:\vcsa-ui-installer\win32\Installer.exe application file.
  3. Complete Stage 1 of the vCenter Server Appliance Installer wizard.
    1. Click Install to start the installation.
    2. Click Next on the Introduction page. 
    3. On the End user license agreement page, select the I accept the terms of the license agreement check box and click Next.
    4. On the Select deployment type page, click Platform Services Controller and click Next.
    5. On the Appliance deployment target page, enter the following settings and click Next.

    6. In the Certificate Warning dialog box, click Yes to accept the host certificate.
    7. On the Set up appliance VM page, enter the following settings and click Next.

    8. On the Select datastore page, perform the following steps, and click Next.

    9. On the Configure network settings page, enter the following settings and click Next.

    10. On the Ready to complete stage 1 page, review the configuration and click Finish to start the deployment.
    11. When the deployment completes, click Continue to proceed to the second stage of the installation, setting up the Platform Services Controller Appliance.
  4. Complete Stage 2 of the Set Up Platform Services Controller Appliance wizard.
    1. Click Next on the Introduction page.
    2. On the Appliance configuration page, enter the following settings and click Next.

    3. On the SSO configuration page, enter the following settings and click Next.

    4. On the SSO Site Name page, enter the following settings and click Next.

    5. On the Configure CEIP page, verify that the Join the VMware's Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP) check box is selected and click Next.
    6. On the Ready to complete page, review the configuration and click Finish to complete the setup.
    7. Click OK on the Warning.
    8. When the installation completes, click Close.
  5. Repeat this procedure for each Platform Services Controller, using the respective values for each.
  6. Create replication agreement between the Platform Services Controllers for the compute clusters in the regions.
    1. Open an SSH client and connect to lax01w01psc01.lax01.rainpole.local.
    2. Log in using the following credentials.

    3. Run the following commands to enable BASH access, and start BASH.

    4. Create a new replication agreement between the Platform Services Controllers for the compute clusters.
      Note: You run this command in Region B only. The command uses the credentials of the administrator@vsphere.local account.
