After the clusters are fully configured in Region A and Region B, you verify that the network connectivity between the regions works as expected.

Procedure

  1. Log in to vCenter Server by using the vSphere Web Client.
    1. Open a Web browser and go to https://lax01m01vc01.lax01.rainpole.local/vsphere-client.
    2. Log in using the following credentials.
      Setting Value
      User name administrator@vsphere.local
      Password vsphere_admin_password
  2. Shut down the NSX Edge service gateways in Region A.
    1. In the Navigator, click Hosts and Clusters.
    2. Expand the entire sfo01m01vc01.sfo01.rainpole.local tree.
    3. Right-click sfo01m01esg01-0 and select Power > Shut Down Guest OS.
    4. Right-click sfo01m01esg02-0 and select Power > Shut Down Guest OS.
  3. Log in to the universal distributed logical router by using a Secure Shell (SSH) client and verify the BGP routing state.
    1. Open an SSH connection to sfo01m01udlr01.
    2. Log in using the following credentials.
      Setting Value
      User name admin
      Password udlr_admin_password
    3. Run the show ip route command to verify that you are receiving routes using BGP.
      The letter B before the route indicates that BGP is used.
    4. Verify that multiple routes to BGP learned networks exist.
    5. Verify that routes come from Region B ESGs.


  4. Power on the NSX Edge services gateways in Region A.
    1. In the Navigator, click Hosts and Clusters.
    2. Expand the entire sfo01m01vc01.sfo01.rainpole.local tree.
    3. Right-click sfo01m01esg01-0 and select Power > Power On.
    4. Right-click sfo01m01esg02-0 and select Power > Power On.
  5. Verify the new state of the BGP routing.
    1. Go back to the SSH connection to sfo01m01udlr01
    2. Run the show ip route command.
    3. Verify that you receive routes using BGP.
      The letter B before the route indicates that BGP is used.
    4. Verify that you have multiple routes to BGP learned networks and that routes also come from the NSX Edge services gateways in Region A.
