The Tier-0 logical router provides a gateway service between the logical and physical network. An NSX Edge cluster can back multiple Tier-0 logical routers. Tier-0 routers support the BGP dynamic routing protocol and ECMP. Configure Tier-0 route advertising and routing for the shared еdge and compute cluster.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Compute NSX-T Manager appliance user interface.
    1. Open a Web browser and go to https://sfo01wnsx01.sfo01.rainpole.local.
    2. Log in using the following credentials.

  2. Add a Tier-0 router to the Edge transport nodes.
    1. In the Navigator, click Routing.
    2. Select the Routers tab and click Add > Tier-0 Router.
    3. On the New Tier-0 Router page, enter the following values and click Add.

  3. Configure Tier-0 routing on the Edge transport nodes.
    1. In the Navigator, click Routing.

    3. Select Configuration > Router Ports > Add.
    4. On the New Router Port page, enter the following values and click Add.

    5. Repeat this step to create all necessary router ports.
  4. Configure BGP routing on the Tier-0 router.
    1. In the Navigator pane, click Routing.
    2. Select the Routers tab and click sfo01-w-tier-0-01.
    3. Select Routing > BGP and click Edit.
    4. On the Edit BGP Configuration page, set the following settings and click Save.

  5. Configure BGP Neighbors on the Tier-0 router.
    1. In the Navigator pane, click Routing.
    2. Select the Routers tab and click sfo01-w-tier-0-01.
    3. Select Routing > BGP and click Add to add a new neighbor.
    4. On the New Neighbor page, select the Neighbor tab, and enter the following values.

    6. Select the Address Families tab, click the Add button, enter the following settings, and click Add.

    7. Repeat this step to add the second neighbor.
  6. Configure route redistribution on the Tier-0 router.
    1. In the Navigator pane, click Routing.
    2. Select the Routers tab and click sfo01-w-tier-0-01.
    3. Select Routing > Route Redistribution and click Edit.
    4. On the Edit Route Redistribution Configuration page, set Status to Enabled and click Save.
  7. Create route redistribution criteria on the Tier-0 router.
    1. In the Navigator pane, click Routing.
    2. Select the Routers tab and click sfo01-w-tier-0-01.
    3. Select Routing > Route Redistribution and click Add.
    4. On the New Redistribution Criteria page, enter the following values and click Add.

  8. Generate a BGP summary for the Tier-0 router.
    1. In the Navigator pane, click Routing.
    2. Select the Routers tab and click sfo01-w-tier-0-01.
    3. Click Actions > Generate BGP Summary.
    4. Click Generate BGP Summary.
    5. Verify the Connection Status of each transport node is Established.
