Create folders to group objects of the same type for easier management.

Procedure

  1. Log in to vCenter Server by using the vSphere Web Client.
    1. Open a Web browser and go to https://nyc01r01vc01.rainpole.local/vsphere-client.
    2. Log in using the following credentials.

  2. Create folders for each of the management applications. 
    1. In the Navigator pane, click VMs and Templates and expand the nyc01r01vc01.rainpole.local tree.
    2. Right-click the nyc01-r01dc data center, and select New Folder > New VM and Template Folder.
    3. In the New Folder dialog box, enter nyc01-r01fd-mgmt as the name to label the folder and click OK.
    4. Repeat this step to create the remaining folders.

  3. Move the vCenter Server virtual machines to the nyc01-r01fd-mgmt folder.
    1. In the Navigator, click VMs and Templates and expand the nyc01r01vc01.rainpole.local tree.
    2. Expand the Discovered Virtual Machines folder.
    3. Drag nyc01r01vc01 to the nyc01-r01fd-mgmt folder.
  4. Delete the Discovered Virtual Machines folder.
    1. In the Navigator pane, click VMs and Templates and expand the nyc01r01vc01.rainpole.local tree.
    2. Right-click the Discovered Virtual Machines folder and click Remove from Inventory.
    3. On the Confirm Remove dialog box, click Yes.
