You deploy the new vSphere Replication appliance in Region B and migrate the settings from the old vSphere Replication appliance.

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Management vCenter Server by using the vSphere Client.
    1. Open a Web browser and go to https://lax01m01vc01.lax01.rainpole.local/vsphere-client.
    2. Log in using the following credentials.
      Setting Value
      User name administrator@vsphere.local
      Password vsphere_admin_password
  2. Upgrade the vSphere Replication.
    1. In the Navigator, click VMs and Templates and expand the lax01m01vc01.lax01.rainpole.local tree.
    2. Expand the lax01-m01dc data center, select the lax01-m01fd-bcdr folder and locate the lax01m01vrms01 virtual machine.
    3. Right-click the lax01m01vrms01 virtual appliance and select Power > Power On.

      The vSphere Replication virtual appliance powers on.

    4. Right-click lax01m01vrms01 and select Open Console.
    5. Select 3 Upgrade and hit Enter.
    6. In the Please enter old VR appliance root password dialog box, enter vr_lax_root_password for the old vSphere Replication appliance and hit Enter.

      The upgrade process starts. During this process, the old vSphere Replication appliance is powered off automatically.

    7. In You need to manually reconfigure pairings with addresses: sfo01m01psc01.sfo01rainpole.local; dialog box hit Enter to acknowledge the message.
    8. In the Please enter SSO admin username dialog box, enter svc-vr@rainpole.local and select OK.
    9. In the Please enter SSO admin password dialog box, enter svc-vr_password and select OK.

      When the upgrade completes successfully, configurations including the network settings of the old vSphere Replication appliance are migrated to the new vSphere Replication appliance.

    Upon successful upgrade, virtual machine and application configurations of the old vSphere Replication virtual appliance are migrated to the new vSphere Replication virtual appliance.

  3. Verify that the correct configuration settings are applied in the Virtual Appliance Management Interface (VAMI) of the new vSphere Replication appliance.
    1. Open a Web browser and go to https://lax01m01vrms01.lax01.rainpole.local:5480 and log in using the following credentials.
    2. Log in using the following credentials.

    3. On the VR tab, click Configuration and verify the following settings.

  4. Verify that the configuration settings are applied properly on the new vSphere Replication virtual machine in vCenter Server.
    1. Open a Web browser and go to https://lax01m01vc01.lax01.rainpole.local/vsphere-client.
    2. Log in using the following credentials.

    3. From the Home menu, select Site Recovery and under lax01m01vc01.lax01.rainpole.local, verify that vSphere Replication shows OK status.
