After you update the Compute vCenter Server in Region A, update the Compute vCenter Server in Region B to complete the update of vCenter Server.

Prerequisites

  • Verify that current backups of the vCenter Server virtual appliances in Region B exists.

  • Mount the update VMware-vCenter-Server-Appliance-6.7.0.x-build_number-patch-FP.iso file to the virtual appliances.

Procedure

  1. Mount the VMware vCenter Server Appliance Patch ISO to the Management vCenter Server VM.
    1. In the Navigator, click VMs and Templates and expand the lax01w01vc01.lax01.rainpole.local tree.
    2. Expand the lax01-m01dc data center, select the lax01-m01fd-mgmt folder, and locate the lax01w01vc01 virtual machine.
    3. Click Launch Remote Console.
    4. In the Launch Remote Console dialog box, select Yes.
    5. In the VMware Remote Console, click VMRC and select Removable Devices > CD/DVD drive 1 > Connect to Disk Image File (iso)....
    6. In the Choose Image window, navigate to where you downloaded the VMware-vCenter-Server-Appliance-6.7.0.x-build_number-patch-FP.iso file and choose open.
  2. Log in to the appliance management interface (VAMI) of the Management Platform Services Controller.
    1. Open a Web browser and go to https://lax01w01vc01.lax01.rainpole.local:5480.
    2. Log in using the following credentials.

  3. Upgrade the appliance.
    1. In the appliance management interface, click Update in the left pane.
    2. In the Update pane, click Check Updates and select Check CDROM.
    3. In the appliance management interface, click Update in the left pane.
    4. In the Update pane, click Check Updates and select Check CDROM.
    5. Click Stage & Install.
    6. In the End User License Agreement dialog box, I accept the EULA and click Next.
    7. In the Backup vCenter Server page, Select I have backed up vCenter Server and its associated databases and Click Finish.
      Note:

      After the update completes,vCenter Server reboots automatically.

    8. Log back in to the vCenter Server VAMI,Click Close on the Installation succeeded window.
    9. From the left Update pane, verify the version number.
  4. Disconnect the attached update .iso from the Shared Edge and Compute vCenter Server virtual appliance.
