The Architecture and Design for the Management Domain document contains a validated design model for the management domain of a single-region or dual-region Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC).
Architecture Overview discusses the building blocks and the main principles of the management domain. Detailed Design provides the available design options according to the design objectives, and a set of design decisions to justify the path that you select for building each component.
To design your management domain in the second region (Region B), you apply the design guidance for a single region, modifying configurations for a single region to accommodate a dual-region setup or introducing configurations specific to a dual-region SDDC.
Architecture and Design for the Management Domain document is intended for cloud architects, who are familiar with and want to use VMware software to deploy and manage an SDDC that meets the requirements for capacity, scalability, backup and restore, and extensibility for disaster recovery support.
Supported VMware Cloud Foundation Version
Architecture and Design for the Management Domain is compatible with VMware Cloud Foundation™4.2.
Required VMware Software on VMware Cloud Foundation
The Architecture and Design for the Management Domain documentation is compliant and validated with certain product versions. See VMware Validated Design Release Notes.
Before You Apply This Guidance
The sequence of the VMware Validated Design documentation follows the stages for implementing and maintaining an SDDC.
If you plan to deploy an SDDC by following the prescriptive path of VMware Validated Design, to apply Architecture and Design for the Management Domain, you must be acquainted with Introducing VMware Validated Design. See Guided Documentation Map of VMware Validated Design.
If you plan to deploy an SDDC by following the VMware Cloud Foundation documentation, you must be acquainted with Introducing VMware Cloud Foundation. See the VMware Cloud Foundation documentation page.
